* Boys' soccer: Wayne Country Day 2, Freedom Christian 0 -- Nehemiya Shaw scored on an assist from David Gurley. Marquise Newell converted a penalty kick. The Chargers (11-0-1 overall) recorded their ninth shutout of the season. They return to action today at North East Carolina Prep.

* Volleyball: Princeton d. Rosewood 25-16, 21-25, 25-22 -- Braylee Butts dished out seven assists, served two aces, collected a kill and posted two digs during the Eagles' battle against PHS on Tuesday. Toree Marak provided two kills, two aces, two assists and two blocks. Maddie Honn contributed two kills and one block. Demetria Percival (one kill, one dig) and Jala Holloman (three kills, one dig, one ace) also played strong for RHS. The Eagles (8-6 overall) dipped to 5-3 in Carolina 1-A Conference play this season. Princeton improved to 9-5 overall and 7-1 in league play.

* Volleyball: Wayne Country Day d. Greenfield 25-10, 25-15 -- Jaden DisDier paced the Chargers with six service aces and two kills. Cate Eagles recorded five aces and four assists. Kyara Drew served five aces, while Katie Strickland had three aces and four assists. Graysen Jeffreys served two aces. Lexi Jeffreys and Madison Britton supplied four kills apiece. Wayne Country Day (5-8 overall) improved to 2-1 in Coastal Plains Independent 1-A/2-A Conference play and entertain Pope John Paul II Catholic HS on Thursday.

* Volleyball: Ayden-Grifton d. Goldsboro 25-23, 25-19 -- Nikki Olmsted served five aces in the Cougars' straight-set loss. Goldsboro is the guest of Eastern Carolina 2-A Conference foe Greene Central on Thursday.
