WCDS boys, girls sweep XC meet on home course

Wayne Country Day's boys and girls each emerged victorious in a multi-team contested on their home course Monday afternoon.
The Chargers' Zan Pittman won the boys' race in 19 minutes, 58 seconds -- nearly a minute faster than runner-up Chase Smith of Community Christian. WCDS got a third-place effort from Case Kermode (20:55) and sixth-place showing from Will Rose (22:04) to complete the team's three-player total of nine points.
Faith Christian's Harrison Freeman came in fifth in 21:55. Teammate Raleigh Anderson claimed 11th place in 23:53, while Pat Riley was 16th overall in 26:00. Also representing the Crusaders -- a first-year team -- were Hayden Voeller, Siles Hill and Christian Cevallos.
On the girls' side, three Wayne Country Day runners ended up among the top six. Janae Jones took second in 24:13. Teammates Gray Young (25:06) and Jasmine Jones (27:12) secured fifth and sixth, respectively.
Faith Christian's Elizabeth Sasser (35:37) and Kayla Woodward (35:38) finished 18th and 19th, respectively.
