* Boys' soccer: Wayne Country Day 7, Faith Christian-Rocky Mount 0 -- Drew Barnes recorded a hat trick (three goals) during the Chargers' road win on Monday afternoon. David Gurley provided two goals. Frank Best and Marquise Newell contributed one goal and one assist apiece. Tanner Willman dished out two assists. Bash Attiah and Hamish McKay each logged one assist. The Chargers (9-0-1 overall) posted their eighth shutout of the season. WCDS is the guest of Greenfield on Friday afternoon.
* Volleyball: Wayne Christian d. Goldsboro 25-23, 18-25, 25-9 -- Yasmyne Vann contributed four kills and served two aces in the Eagles' three-set win. Amanda Morrell recorded two kills. Setter Lauren Stallard and libero Adelyn Worling served six and four aces, respectively. The Eagles (5-3 overall) play host to Cresset Christian today.
* Volleyball: Eastern Wayne d. Clinton 19-25, 25-22, 25-18 -- Chloe Smith paced the Warriors with a double-double -- 10 service aces and a team-high 14 digs. Naomi Williams dished out 17 assists. Rayna Gibson contributed four kills and three blocks. Alissa Jackson recorded eight kills and six blocks. Demiya Yelverton served three aces and knocked down two kills. Eastern Wayne plays host to Southern Wayne today.
Middle schools
* Volleyball: Rosewood d. Wayne School of Engineering 25-19, 25-25, 25-12 -- Mackenzie Amodeo served three aces in the Eagles' three-set sweep of the Titans. Rosewood (3-2 overall) visits Dillard on Thursday.
* Volleyball: Norwayne d. Mount Olive 25-4, 25-17, 25-13 -- The Cobras scored 23 consecutive points with Lydia Butler at the service line during the first set. Norwayne (5-0 overall) entertains Brogden on Thursday. Mount Olive dropped to 0-5 overall this season.
* Boys' soccer: Norwayne 6, Mount Olive 1 -- The Cobras improved to 1-2-2 overall this season. No game details were submitted to the News-Argus.
* Volleyball: Neuse Charter d. Wayne Christian 20-25 25-23, 25-20 -- Wayne Christian (2-6 overall) plays host to Christ Covenant today. The match begins at 4 p.m. at Clifford Gymnatorium.
* Boys' soccer: Wayne School of Engineering 3, Rosewood 2 -- Connor Pate, Derek Hill and Robert Bliler each scored one goal in the Titans' win. Wayne School of Engineering improved to 3-2-0 overall.
