Eight different players got into the scoring act as once-beaten Wayne Country Day rolled past county rival Wayne Christian, 7-0, on Thursday evening.
Matt Kierski supplied two goals for the Chargers, who improved to 5-1-0 overall this season. Tony Townsend recorded two goals and one assist, while midfielder Noah Adkins distributed a pair of assists.
Luis Lopez tallied a goal and an assist. Goalie Patrick Hall assisted on Lopez's goal with a long punt, and logged his fifth clean sheet between the pipes this season. Hunter Bryson had a goal and Jack Talton assisted on Ryan Thiele's first goal of the season.
"It was a good game and some things we worked on this week came off for us," WCDS head coach Steve Ellis said. "We played well as a team and defended well as a unit for the clean sheet. We have a few things we need to tighten up on and will press on with that next week."
The Chargers are the guests of Rocky Mount Academy next Tuesday. Wayne Christian (0-6-0) visits N.C. Christian Schools Association 2-A member Bethel Christian on Monday.
