Wayne Christian finishes runner-up in Lee Christian Falcon Classic

SANFORD -- Hannah Sladick and Holley Gurley earned all-tournament team recognition as Wayne Christian finished runner-up to in the Lee Christian Falcon Classic contested Saturday.
The Eagles defeated Northwood Temple and Cornerstone Christian in straight sets before splitting with Lee Christian.
Wayne Christian faced Lee Christian in the championship match and fell 26-24, 18-25, 15-25.
Sladick finished the tournament with 21 kills, six blocks and 10 digs. Gurley contributed 18 digs and served three aces. Emily Wells dished out 63 assists to go along with five digs and three kills.
Ashley Harrelson had 11 kills and 12 aces, while Sarah Sawyer had 6 kills, 9 digs and 3 aces. Hope Shook had 12 aces and nine kills. Mercy Wright had nine kills. Brooke Slusher and Kaylin Darden also contributed to the Eagles' runner-up effort.
Wayne Christian (6-6 overall) continues play today at N.C. Christian Schools Association 2-A member Bethel Christian.
