Rosewood upends Louisburg in 1A baseball playoffs

LOUISBURG -- Derek Neal, Ethan Chapin and Jacob DuBose pounded out two hits apiece during Rosewood's 9-1 upset of second-seeded Louisburg in the N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 1-A playoffs Friday evening.
Chapin and DuBose combined for two RBI. Bryce McKeel (RBI), Kahlil Warren and Hayden Amodeo (three RBI) each contributed one hit. Chance Howard stole three bases.
Jordan Gurley earned the mound win. He limited Louisburg to an unearned run on two hits, walked seven and struck out six in 6 2/3 innings on the bump. Nick Neal relieved Gurley and recorded a game-ending strikeout.
The Eagles return home Tuesday to face North Duplin. First pitch is 7 p.m.
