North Lenoir advances in 2A baseball playoffs

La GRANGE -- Drew Burke and Orlando Cannon combined for a three-hitter as North Lenoir turned back South Columbus, 4-1, in their second-round N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 2-A playoff game contested at Alphin Field.
Burke yielded one run on two hits and logged one strikeout in a five-inning stint. Cannon earned the save with two innings of one-hit, one-strikeout relief.
Jacob Baird smashed a two-run home run and ended the night 2-for-3. Garrett Letchworth provided two hits.
The Hawks (15-6 overall) faces South Granville on Tuesday.
