Princeton's Wood tosses no-hitter against Manteo

PRINCETON -- Hailey Wood struck out 15 of 18 batters she faced and tossed a no-hitter during Princeton's 10-0, six-inning conquest of Manteo in first-round action of the N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 1-A playoffs Wednesday evening.
Charley Cox and Megan Bryant each singled and doubled. Kortney Edwards contributed two doubles and two RBI. Casey Mitchell and Wood provided two hits apiece.
Logan Pace and Kelsey Peedin each had one hit.
Princeton (16-4 overall) entertains East Carteret in second-round play either Friday or Saturday.
