Eagles dominate track meet

James Madison University football signee Tyree Chavious won the discus and helped Rosewood dominate a three-team Carolina 1-A Conference meet Monday afternoon.
Chavious logged a throw of 116 feet, 2 inches.
Marquail Almontaser won the triple jump (37-0) and 110 hurdles (17.7 seconds). Quan Joyner claimed the 100 dash (11.1 seconds) and 400 run (54.0 seconds).
Zack Barnes shared first place in the high jump. Teammates Alex Godwin (pole vault), Dalton Farmer (1,600 run) and Kodey Silknitter (3,200) each secured a first-place finish on the day.
The Eagles won the 3,200 and 1,600 relays.
On the girls' side, Rosewood received individual wins from five competitors -- Kiandra Taylor (discus, 200 dash), Tonyetta McCoy (triple jump), Amina Bash (800 and 1,600 runs) and Katie Kornegay (3,200).
The Eagles won the 3,200 relay.
