Eastern Wayne drops ECC 3A/4A softball opener

Eastern Wayne couldn't overcome a high-powered New Bern attack in an 18-6 loss on the Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A scene on Tuesday.
Emily Uzzell endured the loss in the pitcher's circle for the Warriors.
Emily Newsome had three hits for Eastern Wayne including two doubles and one RBI. Trisha Bell had two hits including a triple and an RBI.
Elizabeth Sutton had two hits and Akirra Coley had a triple to round out the hitting for the Warriors, who dropped to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
The Warriors play North Lenoir today at 4:30 p.m.
