MOUNT OLIVE -- Justin Manning batted 2 for 3 and swatted a home run as No. 4-ranked University of Mount Olive pounded Conference Carolinas foe Limestone, 12-4, at Scarborough Field on Sunday afternoon.
The Trojans swept the three-game series.
Joe Koehler and Brett Lang each went "yard" for the Trojans, who improved to 17-3 overall and moved within four victories of presenting head coach Carl Lancaster his 1,000th career win.
Mount Olive exploded for 11 runs during a three-inning stretch after spotting the Saints 1-0 lead through 31/2 innings. Koehler and Lang each homered in a six-inning, fourth-inning uprising.
Manning stroked his three-RBI homer in a five-run sixth-inning outburst.
Derek Justice (3-0) claimed the mound win. The senior permitted one run off of three hits and retired five Limestone batters on strikeouts in seven complete innings.
UMO visits Armstrong State on Tuesday and returns home Friday for a Conference Carolinas weekend series against Barton.
