Wayne Country Day struggled with runners in scoring position and dropped a 6-2 decision to former independent 1-A state champion Lawrence Academy on Monday afternoon.
"We took too many good pitches yesterday and we have to be able to take the ball to right field ... use the entire field," WCDS head coach Michael Taylor said.
Mitch Turnage paced the Chargers' offense with two hits. John Strickland and Amane Godo (two RBI) delivered one hit apiece.
Strickland, Godo and Patrick Hall combined for seven innings on the mound. The trio recorded eight strikeouts, but all six Warrior runs were earned.
Godo endured the loss.
Wayne Country Day (2-1 overall) faces Statesville Christian on Friday. Game time is 1:30 p.m. at historic Fleming Stadium in Wilson.
