WINTERVILLE -- Zack Howard officially etched his name in the Charles B. Aycock wrestling record book, and the Golden Falcons dominated South Central, 56-14, in an Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference match Tuesday evening.
Howard prevailed at 132 pounds, giving him a program-best 172 career wins after tying the previous mark of 171 held by Ronald Lynn during the Falcon Invitational this past Saturday. Howard improved to 26-3 overall this season.
The Golden Falcons received pins from heavyweight Matt Teachey, 106-pounder Alex Johnson, Jacob Dickenson (120 pounds), Deshawn Owens (126), Daniel Bryant (145) and Josh Wallace (152). Brandon Washington earned a decision, while teammates Alvin Ward and Hayden Gurley each drew a forfeit.
Aycock (13-4 overall, 4-0 ECC) returns to action Saturday in the Firebird Duals, which honor former Southern Nash wrestling coach Thomas Cowles.
