WINGATE -- Jay Gonzalez became the top base-stealing thief in University of Mount Olive single-game history during the Trojans' doubleheader sweep of in-state rival Wingate University on Wednesday afternoon.

The No. 25-ranked Trojans took the opener 10-6 and won the nightcap, 2-1 in extra innings.

Gonzalez boosted his season total to 42 swipes, which broke the previous record shared by Anthony Williams (40 in 2012) and David Cooper (40 in 2006). The Auburn University transfer concluded the twinbill 4-for-6 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Mount Olive (30-11 overall) extended its win streak to 13 heading into this weekend's Conference Carolinas series with in-state foe Belmont Abbey. The teams will play single game Friday and doubleheader on Saturday.

Chase Edwards' two-RBI, seventh-inning home run helped the Trojans pull away from the Bulldogs (24-13) in the opener. Edwards finished with three hits. Bradon Reitano (RBI), Willi Martin (two RBI), Justin Manning (two RBI) and Zak Orrison (two RBI) contributed to Mount Olive's 14-hit attack.

Jordy Farthing remained unbeaten in five decisions. The Campbell University transfer yielded five earned runs on eight hits and logged two strikeouts in 5-plus innings on the bump. Zach Bernard earned his fourth save with 12/3 innings of one-hit, one-strikeout relief.

Reitano tied the nightcap at 1-1 on a sixth-inning, double-play groundout. Neither team scored again until the eighth, when Gonzalez stole back-to-back bases and trotted home on Luke Barry's pinch-hit single.

Southpaw Josh Frederick (3-1) claimed the complete-game decision. The senior limited the Bulldogs to one earned run on seven hits, struck out six and walked just one.
