Harris cranks out 3 hits, CBA rolls in softball

PIKEVILLE -- Campbell University commit Cierra Harris led the way for the Golden Falcons with three hit as Charles B. Aycock defeated Southern Wayne 8-0 in Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A conference action Tuesday evening.
Abbie Walton and Meredith Burroughs each recorded two hits for C.B. Aycock. Burroughs' double was the only extra-base hit of the evening.
Allie Phillips got the win in the circle. She pitched six shutout innings, giving up three hits and striking out three. Taylor Waddell pitched a scoreless inning in relief.
Haley Brogden endured the pitching loss for the Saints. Kelsey Hayes had two hits and Whitney Houston had one to round out the offense.
Weather permitting, Southern Wayne (6-7 overall, 3-4 ECC) plays host to North Johnston. C.B. Aycock (9-2, 7-1) travels to Rose on Friday.
