Preps digest: JV, middle schools

JV sports

*Baseball: C.B. Aycock 15, Greene Central 2 -- Chandler Matthews drove in four runs with two hits including a double as C.B. Aycock throttled Greene Central 15-2 in five innings. Jacob Sanford, Bryce Anders and Cameron Kornegay all had doubles for the Golden Falcons. Landon Casey got the pitching win for C.B. Aycock hurling three innings of three-hit ball, surrendering one unearned run. Chandler Gentry and Trey Jordan also pitched for the Golden Falcons, who improved to 10-2 overall this season.

* Baseball: Wayne Christian 6, Arendell-Parrott Academy -- Wayne Christian used three pitchers Thursday to take down Arendell-Parrott Academy 6-4. Hunter Burt had two hits and scored twice for the Eagles. Ted Suggs, Ryan Kennedy, Holden Foster and Trey Hinton each added one hit apiece. Nick Easom drove in two runs. Luke Suggs got the win on the mound. He pitched 3 2/3 innings, giving up four runs on eight hits. Ted Suggs and Foster combined to pitch 3 1/3 innings of hitless relief.

* Girls' soccer: Wayne Country Day 1, Christ Covenant 0 -- Ally Willman scored just before the halftime break and that was all Wayne Country Day needed for its 1-0 victory over Christ Covenant Thursday.

Middle schools

* Girls' Soccer: Greenwood 4, Dillard 0 -- Madison Tallarida scored a hat trick (three goals) Thursday evening and Greenwood triumphed 4-0 over Dillard. Alliyah Culley scored the other goal and Claire Molloy and DorMiya Vance each added an assist. Greenwood (6-1-0 overall) travels to Spring Creek on Monday.

* Girls' Soccer: Rosewood 2, Mount Olive 0 -- Summer Jones scored twice and Rosewood topped Mount Olive 2-0 Thursday evening. Abigail Farmer registered the shutout in goal with help from solid defense by Autumn Lancaster and Jennifer Covarrubius. Rosewood (4-4-0 overall) travels to Eastern Wayne on Monday.
