PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock prevailed in six of 10 individual contested matches and defeated J.H. Rose 45-30 on the Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference scene Wednesday evening.

"Our team of young wrestlers continues to work hard each day in the wrestling room and tonight was a good victory for them," first-year Golden Falcons head coach Ronnie Allen said.

Jarrett Paynter, Ryan Morton, Matt Teachey, Zack Howard and Jacob Dickenson each pinned their respective opponent. Morton had the fastest pin in 38 seconds.

Ty Marquard pulled out a 6-4 overtime decision over the Rampants at 106 pounds. Jeannautica Jones and Joshua Wallace drew forfeits at 132 and 152 pounds, respectively.

CBA sealed the outcome with a 27-6 run during a six-match stretch.

"I am very proud of our team for being able to finish matches tonight," Allen said. "We only gave up two pins, which is a huge improvement over the past few matches. (There is) still room for improvement, but we are doing better.

"Rose is a good team and they came to wrestle. Tonight just went our way."
