DUDLEY -- Southern Wayne could not hold off hot-shooting Wilson Fike on Tuesday night. The Demons rallied from a double-digit first half deficit and claimed a 61-56 victory.
"We are a team right now trying to learn and get better," Southern Wayne head coach Ricky Lofton said. "I think this early in the year a lot of teams are that way."
The Saints hurt themselves at the free throw line, shooting just 22 of 37 for the game.
Freshman guard Zaria Atkins led the Southern Wayne attack with 24 points. Cierra Thompson and Dikeya Cox each added 10 points in the defeat.
E.J. Proctor paced Fike with 22 points.
Southern Wayne (1-1 overall) travels to Lakewood on Thursday.
