Preps digest: JV, middle school and youth sports roundup

JV sports

* Volleyball: Rosewood d. Goldsboro 25-14, 25-9 -- Jordan Martens provided nine assists and three aces for the Eagles (11-1 overall, 2-0 CC). Lexi Mercer contributed five kills and three blocks. Kayla Hardee had six aces and five assists. Ciera Satterfield added five kills and Callie Thornton chipped in four kills. Kaylee Lyon paced the Cougars (4-8) with five aces.

* Volleyball: Freedom Christian d. Wayne Country Day 25-17, 25-23 -- Olivia Dively finished with four kills for the Chargers. Tiffany Larsen had three assists.

* Volleyball: Wilson Beddingfield d. Greene Central 25-23, 25-16 -- Rebecca Webb led the Rams with four aces and Kasey Turnage provided two kills.

Middle schools

* Volleyball: Freedom Christian d. Wayne Country Day 25-16, 25-10 -- Olivia Dively tallied two aces for the Chargers. Kyara Drew, Hannah Neal, Cheyenne Canuette and Sarah Jane Ammons each had one ace.

* Volleyball: Rosewood d. Eastern Wayne 25-18, 25-15, 25-23 -- Ada Rivera led the Eagles with 11 aces. Rosewood (1-0 overall) entertains Spring Creek on Sept. 20.

* Volleyball: Spring Creek d. Greenwood 25-20, 27-25, 25-12 -- Ashley Marriner tallied four aces for Spring Creek. Becky Coor provided eight aces and Ferranda Martinez had three aces and three kills. Ivet Carreno added two aces. Spring Creek (1-1 overall) plays host to Mount Olive on Monday.

* Football: Norwayne 22, Rosewood 8 -- Norwayne's Tim Farmer and Caleb Grough each rushed for 100 yards and each scored a touchdown. Kamarion Graham contributed 60 yards rushing and a score. Quarterback Jake Flowers completed three passes. Chandler Matthews, Bradley Pate and Micah Castillo each turned in an interception. Troy Barnes, Jabori Cox and Tim Farmer lead the team in tackles. Norwayne (1-0 overall) plays host to Brogden on Sept. 20.

* Football: Dillard 40, Mount Olive 14 -- Jamal Alston paced Dillard's offense with 93 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Dajuan Walters and Darrell Gattis each provided a touchdown on the ground. Malacah Carter and Ronnie Tooks combined for 12 tackles defensively. Dillard visits Greenwood on Sept. 20.
