Hobbton spoils Minor's head coaching debut at Princeton

PRINCETON -- Princeton had the potential go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter called back on a holding penalty and came up short in a 20-14 loss to Hobbton in Derrick Minor's debut as head coach.

With Princeton trailing 20-14, Kameron McDougald broke free and raced 70 yards to the end zone, only to have the play called back on a holding penalty.

"Regardless of the score we had a heart victory," Minor said. "Hobbton really methodically moved the ball down the field and our defense held their ground as much as they could. We gave ourselves a shot to win and that is all we can ask for."

Johnny Frasier's 51-yard touchdown run and Dakota Smith's two-point conversion gave the Bulldogs an 8-0 lead in the first quarter. Frasier finished with a team-high 114 yards rushing on 14 carries.

The Wildcats scored a pair of rushing touchdowns in the second quarter. Hobbton extended its lead to 20-8 in the third quarter on another rushing touchdown.

Quarterback Michael Wooten's 22-yard touchdown run pulled Princeton to within 20-14. Cody Garner recorded seven solo tackles and eight assists. Felipe Olanzo added five tackles and three assists.

The Bulldogs (0-1 overall) visit Midway next Friday.
