JACKSONVILLE -- Rosewood fixed some past mistakes and got some unlikely contributions during 1-A East Regional play at Bear Trail Golf Club in Jacksonville on Monday afternoon.
The Eagles earned a regional championship for their efforts.
Rosewood fired a four-man team score of 322 to claim the top spot in the tournament. The Eagles finished 11 strokes better than host Southwest Onslow.
"I am really excited not only about what we did today, but about what we have a chance to do next week," Rosewood head coach Daniel Baynes said. "I feel like I have six guys that really want to go out and compete for a state championship."
Rosewood freshman Nick Adams earned medalist honors during Monday's round with an even par 72. Blake Weaver finished fourth overall with a 78. Tyler Dean (83) and Jaz Verceles-Zara (89) rounded out the Eagles' team total.
"I told Tyler with two holes to play that we needed him to come in under 85 and he got it done," Baynes said. "Jaz tied his best round ever with an 89 and it came at a time when we needed it."
The N.C. High School Athletic Association 1-A state championship will be played May 9-10 at Keith Hills Country Club in Buies Creek.
