Rosewood's depth proved crucial again.

Two weeks after winning the boys' team title in the annual Wayne County Track and Field Championships, the Eagles earned the Carolina 1-A Conference crown Wednesday afternoon.

Talented distance runner Nick Britt emerged victorious in two events and helped the Eagles edge archrival Princeton, 145-141, in the six-team meet. Goldsboro, which won eight events, took third with 127.5 points.

Spring Creek (68.5 points), North Duplin (38) and Ayden-Grifton (30) rounded out the field.

Britt won the 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs. Jacquez Raynor seized the 110-meter high hurdles title. Sneed and Ricky Donahue won the 800 run and pole vault, respectively.

Rosewood scored points in 15 of 18 events.

Corteiz Sprangle and Karon Alston each claimed two conference titles for the Cougars. Sprangle captured the long jump (19 feet, 5 inches) and 300 intermediate hurdles, while Alston topped the field in the 100- and 200-meter dashes.

Andre Montgomery earned the shot put crown. Goldsboro took first in the 1,600- and 3,200-meter relays.

On the girls' side, Rosewood's Crystal Allen and Goldsboro's Mikayla Huf each won three conference championships.

Allen seized first place in the 100 and 200, and long jump. Huf, an outstanding distance runner, bested the competition in the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 events. The Cougars' Taylor won the 400 run.

Rosewood won the 1,600- and 3,200-meter relays. The 1,600 foursome was Armani Perry, Elise McSwain, Alysse Atwell and Allen. Teammates Kasie Elliott, Ciera Satterfield, Brynna Lee and Perry comprised the 3,200 squad.

Ayden-Grifton secured the girls' team title with 166.66 points. Rosewood placed second with 120 points, followed by Princeton (90), Goldsboro (74), Spring Creek (42.33) and North Duplin (41).
