Atkinson scores 16 in EW road victory

FOUR OAKS -- Eastern Wayne used some tight defense to slow down the normally-potent South Johnston offense en route to a 50-37 victory on Friday night.
It was the Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference opener for both teams.
Lee Atkinson led the Warriors with 16 points. Lamar Best recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 steals.
Eastern Wayne (4-2 overall, 1-0 ECC) plays host to Cleveland High School on Tuesday night.
