JV sports
* Boys' basketball: Goldsboro 62, Southern Wayne 41 -- Quavis Holloman led three Cougars in double figures with 14 points in the Cougars' non-conference road win. Shahim Muhammad and Kerron Howell provided 13 and 10 points, respectively. Rasheed Jackson, Wesley Tilley and Aaquan Butler tallied six points apiece. Jalen Roberts led the Saints with 14 points and seven rebounds. Jartavis Bradshaw contributed 12 points. Angelo Burden added five points and eight rebounds. Goldsboro improved to 4-1 overall, while Southern Wayne fell to 1-3.
* Boys' basketball: Wayne Christian 57, Crossroads Christian 33 -- Dylan Smith led the Eagles with 22 points and 14 rebounds. Tyler Lacerda added 14 points. Wayne Christian will now enjoy an extended break for the holidays.
Middle schools
* Girls' basketball: Rosewood 37, Mount Olive 15 -- Rosewood improved to 7-0 on the season. Lexi Mercer led the Eagles with 21 points. Callie Thornton added seven points in the win.
