MOUNT OLIVE -- Sasha Snyder tossed a complete game four-hitter and Aubrey Reinhard belted her sixth home run of the season as Mount Olive defeated Chowan 7-1 in game one of a non-conference softball doubleheader Monday at Nancy Chapman Cassell Field. All four hits allowed by Snyder were singles, only one leaving the infield. The win came just a little over 24 hours after Snyder picked up both wins in relief in Sunday's doubleheader sweep at Lees-McRae.

The Trojans' six-game winning streak came to an end in the nightcap as Megan Bass' two-run homer in the top of the seventh inning lifted Chowan to a 3-2 victory.

Snyder (6-3) retired 14 of the final 16 batters she faced, retiring the side in order in the fourth, fifth and seventh innings. Thirteen of the 21 outs were ground outs.

In the nightcap, Reinhard again staked the Trojans to a first inning lead as her two-out rbi-single drove in Minshew and put Mount Olive on top 1-0. Reinhard doubled with two outs in the bottom of the third and came home on Robbin Kennedy's RBI-single to make it a 2-0 game.

Chowan got on the scoreboard in the top of the fourth when Fahren Munro beat out a bunt single and stole second. She went to third on a fly out and scored on Ashley Huffman's squeeze bunt.

The Trojans held a one-run lead going into the seventh, but Chowan pitcher Lacey Wildeboer helped herself with a one-out single through the right side. Bass followed with a blast over the left field fence to give the Hawks their first lead of the twinbill.

Mount Olive will travel to the 2010 Conference Carolinas Softball Tournament Friday through Sunday at Hartsville, S.C., hosted by Coker College.
