PIKEVILLE -- Not only did the game start early, but so did Charles B. Aycock's offense.

The Golden Falcons had their Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference contest with North Lenoir moved up one hour and wasted little time getting on the scoreboard on their way to a 5-0 win on Wednesday evening.

Samantha Parrish's long throw in during the opening minutes found its way into the back of the net. Jessica Price's high bending shot in the seventh minute gave Aycock a 2-0 lead.

Parrish scored again on a throw-in during the 10th minute.

"We were concerned after spring break and even though we won on Monday, we felt like things weren't clicking like we had been doing prior to spring break," said Golden Falcons assistant coach Adam Livengood. "Tonight we got off to a fast start. I was much happier with our start tonight."

Aycock was awarded an indirect kick inside the 18-yard box in the 39th minute and Alicia Sodoma gave the Golden Falcons a 4-0 lead off Elvia Rodriguez's assist.

The Hawks were held without a shot on goal in the first half and finished with just one for the game.

Taylor Demartini capped Aycock's scoring with a long goal off a free kick outside the 18-yard box in the 69th minute.

The Golden Falcons (8-5-1 overall, 4-1-0 ECC) continue to trail ECC leader Eastern Wayne by a game in the standings. Aycock plays host to non-conference opponent Wilson Beddingfield today and conference foe South Johnston on Monday.

The Golden Falcons visit Eastern Wayne next Wednesday.

"Of course we want to look at it one game at a time," said Livengood. "We felt we were building the whole season and then (the loss) to Eastern Wayne knocked us back a little bit. We kind of had a rough finish before spring break and coming back we hope we're going to peak at the right time."

North Lenoir (3-6-1, 0-3-0) travels to Tarboro today.
