Eastern Wayne had the potential game-tying run thrown out at home plate in a 6-5 loss to North Lenoir on Tuesday night.

Both teams wore pink uniforms in honor of the first annual "Pink it out night" to benefit Cancer research. Assistant principal Brenda Sauls, a Cancer survivor, threw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Morgan Smith and Hannah Grantham each finished with two hits respectively to pace the Warriors. Carissa Turner added one hit and scored two runs.

Lani Fricks suffered the loss in the pitcher's circle despite only allowing six hits over seven innings.

Eastern Wayne (4-10 overall, 0-5 ECC) will travel to South Johnston on Friday.

CBA earns win

DUDLEY -- Autumn Pittman fired a one-hitter and C.B. Aycock bested county rival Southern Wayne 4-0 on Tuesday.

Pittman added two hits to pace the Golden Falcons' offense. Brooke Bell, Ashley Shingleton and Connor Davis each finished with two hits in the victory.

C.B. Aycock will travel to J.H. Rose today.

Rebels fall

AYDEN -- A late rally fell just short as North Duplin dropped a 5-3 decision to Ayden-Grifton in Carolina 1-A Conference softball action on Tuesday.

Skylar McCarty belted three hits to lead the Rebels' offense. Ansley Hill added one hit in the loss.

North Duplin (1-7 overall, 0-2 CC) will host Rosewood on Friday.

Baseball

Eagles sink Gators

Matt Neal flirted with a no-hitter and Rosewood handed Spring Creek a 10-0 loss on the Carolina 1-A Conference baseball scene.

Neal allowed one hit over five innings and struck out nine batters.

Trevor Cox paced the Eagles at the plate with two hits and two RBI. Cody Harris and Neal each added two hits in the victory.

Rosewood improved to 7-6 overall (3-0 CC). The Eagles will travel to North Duplin on Friday. The same night Spring Creek (7-6, 2-1) visits Goldsboro.

Rebels rise

AYDEN -- North Duplin put on an offensive show in an 11-3 win over Ayden-Grifton on Tuesday night.

James Konregay belted a home run as part of his two-hit night. Julio Mora, Shayne Deaver and Marcus Kornegay each adde two hits respectively.

Brian Chase got the win on the pitcher's mound thanks to five solid innings.

North Duplin (9-2 overall, 2-1 CC) will host Rosewood on Friday.

Dawgs roll

Princeton never stopped swinging the bats in a 28-1 win over Goldsboro on Tuesday.

Patrick Jacobs led the Dawgs with a three-for-three effort. Benton Myers added four hits including a home run. Austin Hinton earned the win on the pitcher's mound.

Goldsboro (0-8 overall) will host Spring Creek on Friday.

Chargers prevail

Wayne Country Day easily defeated Epiphany 15-0 on Tuesday afternoon.

Cole Davis led the Wayne Country Day offense with three hits and three RBI. Cody Neal, Tyson Pearson, Hil Tanner and Dare Uzell each added two hits for the Chargers.

Uzell earned the win on the pitcher's mound.

Wayne Country Day (8-6 overall) will host Faith of Rocky Mount on Friday.

Faith tops Berean

Faith Christian locked up a Coastal Region 2-A Conference regular season championship with a 7-1 victory over Berean Christian on Tuesday.

Nick Gurley pitched six solid innings to earn the win on the mound.

Brandon Jones delivered the Conquerors' biggest ofensive moment with a solo home run in the fifth inning.

Faith Christian (6-0 overall) will host Hilltop Christian on Thursday.

Tennis

Saints win

Southern Wayne pulled off a 6-3 victory over Wayne Country Day on the tennis courts at Wayne Community College on Monday afternoon.

Kobi Hood, Brandon Outlaw, Alan Nunez, and Allen Cansler each earned a singles point for the Saints. The tandems of Hood-Outlaw and Nunez-Cansler each prevailed in doubles action.

Southern Wayne improved to 8-3 overall.

Warriors cruise

Eastern Wayne wasted no time in taking out Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference newcomer Triton 9-0 on Tuesday.

Chaz Fitzpatrick, Aaron Dunmire, Mike Barnette, Joe DiCesare, Marvin Bowman and Mike Ames each won their respective singles match.

The duos of Fitzpatrick-Barnette, Dunmire-DiCesare, and Bowman-Ames each claimed a point in doubles play.

Eastern Wayne improved to 10-1 overall (6-1 ECC). The Warriors will travel to archrival C.B. Aycock on Thursday.

Eagles top Cougars

Rosewood swept through singles play en route to a 9-0 win over Goldsboro on Tuesday.

Cole Radcliff, Travis Cuddington, Matt Binda, Antonio Henriquez, Zach Behrend and Jamez Henriquez each earned a point in singles play.

The tandems of Behrend-Nathan Kornegay, Fouwad Ismail-Brice Matthews and Nathan Tubb-Nolan Tubb each won their respective singles match.

Rosewood improved to 8-0 overall.

Soccer

WCS falters

DURHAM -- Trinity of Durham got off to a hot start and never looked back in a 6-0 win over Wayne Christian on Tuesday afternoon.

The Lions scored four goals in the opening 10 minutes.

Katie Isenhower picked her team up in net of the next 70 minutes, but the Eagles never found the mark in the offensive zone.

Wayne Chrstian will travel to Grave of Raliegh on April 20.

JV sports

* Baseball: C.B. Aycock 15, Southern Wayne 6 -- Collin DuBose and Cameron Taylor each scorched four hits for the Golden Falcons. Adam Pate, Justin Barbour and Ryan Grant each finished with two hits respectively. Taylor earned the win on the pitcher's mound. C.B. Aycock improved to 13-2 overall.

Middle schools

* Baseball: Wayne Christian 13, Cary Christian 3 -- Tanner Rose led the Eagles with a three-hit outing. Hunter Burt and Cameron Foss each added two hits respectively. Wayne Christian improved to 6-3 overall. The Eagles travel to Neuse Charter on Friday.
