Earl Wayne McClain Sr., 76, of LaGrange, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2018, at his home.
Earl was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on Sept. 6, 1941, to the late Esther and Earl M. McClain Jr. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. After retiring from the Air Force, Earl went to work with the Department of Defense and retired after 16 years of dedicated service.
A service to celebrate Earl’s life will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2018, at noon in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. in the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
Earl is survived by his wife of 39 years, Jeanne McClain; children, Cindy Kimble (Richard) of Goldsboro, Wayne McClain Jr. of Goldsboro, Scott McClain (Julie) of LaGrange, Tracy Haith (David) of Mebane, Michael Spurkosky of La Quinta, California, and Mark Spurkosky of LaGrange; 18 grandchildren, including a special grandchild, Brittanie; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and his sister-in-law, Penny Previtera and husband, Nunzio. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Darry McClain.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the charity of one’s choice.
