H. DAVID ALLEN

Feb. 20, 1939-Aug. 28, 2018

H. David Allen died Tuesday, Au. 28, 2018.

Mr. Allen was born Feb. 20, 1939, in Griffin, Ga., to the late Dale E. and Wilma S. Allen.

He attended the Griffin-Spalding County schools and the University of Georgia.

After a 30 year career with American Buildings Co., Eufaula, Alab., he retired as national sales manager in 2000.

He returned to Goldsboro, and worked several years with his son at Allen Grading Co. before retiring permanently.

He was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan until his death.

He loved the game of golf, and played many courses throughout the United States, but enjoyed his home course at Walnut Creek Country Club most of all.

On a trip to Montana in 1981, he was introduced to fly fishing, and equaled the sport as enjoyable as golf, and much more peaceful.

He was a member of Saint Paul United Methodist Church and Golden K Kiwanis Club.

He is survived by his wife, Kay Farr Allen; son, Lawrence Cobin "Chuck" Allen and wife, Lori, of Goldsboro; daughters, Kelly Allen Richards of Eufaula, Ala., and Lee Allen Gray and husband, Roy, of Goldsboro.

Grandchildren, Justin Edward Allen and wife, Erin, Bryce Cobin Allen and Anna Lawrence Allen of Goldsboro, David Holton Richards and wife, Jordan, of Eufaula, Ala., Mary Leigh Richards of Denver, Colo., Nathaniel Brooks Gray and Mallory Paige Gray of Raleigh.

Great-grandchildren, Weston Hayes Allen of Goldsboro and Ava Grace Richards of Eufaula, Ala.; brother, Thomas Bruce Allen of Jackson, Ga.; and sister, Becky Allen Powell of Griffin, Ga.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Norma Allen Bozeman and Mary Allen Woodward.

He also leaves his much loved furry friend, Daisy.

A celebration of life will be Wednesday, Sept. 5. at 3 p.m. at Saint Paul United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Jim Harry, the Rev. Phyllis Vail and the Rev. Thurman Horney.

Private inurnment will be in Saint Paul columbarium.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service and immediately following the service at The Farm, 200 Arrington Bridge Road, Goldsboro.

Memorial donations may be made to Saint Paul United Methodist Church, 204 E. Chestnut St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
