Kenton Deane Shoemaker, 88, Asheville, passed away into the light Aug. 20, 2018.
Mr. Shoemaker was born Jan. 31, 1930, in Michigan.
He lived in Goldsboro most of his life and Asheville for the past 15 years.
Deane retired from AT&T with more than 30 years of service, and he was a member of Goldsboro-Adamsville Methodist Church.
He enjoyed singing, gardening and tending to his more than 200 rose bushes.
Deane is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Shoemaker; wife, Jackie Shoemaker; and beloved kitty, Luke the Duke.
He is survived by his daughter, Renae Shoemaker; sons, Randy Shoemaker and Barry Shoemaker; and grandchildren, Allison and Eric Shoemaker.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Aug. 31, 2018, at 3 p.m. at Daniels Memorial Methodist Church, 2802 E. Ash St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
