Mr. Richard Wayne Van Tuyl Sr., 84, Redland Road, Advance, died Monday, July 30, 2018, at Bermuda Commons.
He was born March 23, 1934, in Cook County, Ill., to the late John Edgar Van Tuyl Sr. and the late Valeda Frances Martin.
Richard was a veteran of the United States Air Force, where he was an engine mechanic on one of the first F-84 Sabrejets.
He was owner of Van and Associates Tool and Design Inc., and was also an inventor, having received two patents.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife and the mother of his children, Evelyn Rose Van Tuyl.
Survivors include his partner, Hellen Edith Bennett; five children, Richard Wayne Van Tuyl Jr. (Rebecca), Victoria Lynn Jones (John), Michael Wayne Van Tuyl, Dawn Nicole Goodrich (Jerry) and Norman Edward Van Tuyl (Katherine); a stepdaughter, Theresa Ann Alexander (Chris); 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and two brothers, Bill Van Tuyl of Alaska and Tom Van Tuyl of Colorado.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be considered for Hospice and Palliative Care, 377 Hospital Street, Suite 103, Mocksville, N.C., 27028.
