GWENDOLYN ROCHELLE 'GWEN' HARDY HOLLAND

Gwendolyn Rochelle “Gwen” Hardy Holland, 75, Goldsboro, passed away Sunday.

Gwen was born July 6, 1943, in Seven Springs to the late William Randolph Hardy and Elizabeth Mozingo Hardy. She was wife of the late Jerry Robert Holland Sr.

Gwen loved life, and lived it to the fullest. She was passionate about everything she was involved in and always gave everything total commitment.

Sassy and spunky, Gwen was a lady of great inner strength and an inspiration to all she came in contact with. Her bright smile and sparkling eyes endeared her to everyone she crossed paths with during her life journey.

Gwen took great pride in tending to her yard and flowers.

She loved trips to the North Carolina mountains. The peace and tranquility of the mountains brought her much joy.

Gwen worked as a licensed practical nurse. She worked 28 years in civil service at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base and 14 years with Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Gwen was a woman of strong Mormon faith. She worshiped with the Goldsboro 2nd Ward.

Gwen walked into our lives and left her footprint on our hearts.

A service to celebrate Gwen’s life will be held Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018, at 7 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home.

Burial will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Holy Innocents Episcopal Church Cemetery.

Gwen is survived by two children, Gary Charles Lindsey II and Angela Overton and husband, Bobby; four grandchildren, Taylor Glance and her fiance, Mason Marriner, Rose Chandler and husband, Jamie, Billy Overton and Kailee Lindsey; two great-grandchildren, Ariel Chandler and Xander Chandler; two stepgrandsons, Roy and Bobby Overton; two siblings, William F. “Billy” Hardy and wife, Patty, and Dixie King Carter and husband, Billy; and a brother-in-law, Jack Deaver.

In addition to her parents and husband, Gwen was preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Stelly and Betty Deaver.

Family and friends will be received Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home.
