HETTIE W. WALLACE

Hettie Waff Wallace, 94, formerly of Edenton, passed away Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018.

Mrs. Wallace was born in Chowan County Nov. 20, 1923, and was the daughter of the late John and Hettie Waff.

Employed as a bookkeeper with Edenton Tractor Co. for many years, she was a faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church, its adult choir, the WMU and the church prayer group, and had served as a Sunday school teacher and Girls in Action leader.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Wallace, Jr.; her sisters, Mildred, Doris and Juanita; and by her brothers, Edward, John, Edsel, Alvin and Maurice.

Surviving are two daughters, Barbara W. McCabe and husband, Robert, of Winterville and Hettie W. Grisette and husband, Al, of Goldsboro; a son, William E. “Bill” Wallace and wife, Charlotte, of Haw River; a sister, Kathleen Byrum of Tyner; and two sisters-in-law, Sarah and Doris Waff.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Kim Storino, Jeff McMillion, Kristy Hornthall, Layton Grisette, Bill Wallace, Kimberly Barr and Julius Grisette; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Following a private family burial in Waff Family Cemetery, a service celebrating her life will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in Macedonia Baptist Church, and will be conducted by her pastor, the Rev. Bob Young.

The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of the church immediately following the service.
