DANNY L. MASSEY

Danny Lee Massey, 68, passed away Wednesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Born in Cumberland County, he was the son of the late Grover T. Massey and Sally Ann Daniels Boswell, and husband of the late Melissa "Missy" Furnan Massey.
He was a dedicated law enforcement officer, having served as an investigator with the Mount Olive Police Department for many years.
He received the Governors Award for off-duty rescue where he saved many lives.
Danny was also av eteran of the United States Army.
A service to celebrate Danny's life will be held Monday at 11 am at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with pastor Lee Britt officiating. A private burial will be in Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
Family members will greet friends Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
Danny is survived by his sons, Jim Massey and wife, Jennifer, Tim Massey, Andy Massey and wife, Janelle; a sister, Ann Daniels; three grandchildren, Sierra, Aren and Addie Massey.
The family requests that, in addition to flowers, memorial contributions can be made in memory of Mr. Massey to the Salvation Army, 610 N William St, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
