George Jeffrey Lee, 49, Wilmington, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at Lower Cape Fear Wilmington Hospice.
Jeff was born in Wayne County July 12, 1968, to Justine Eva Johnson and the late Jack Lee.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Jeff served as the commander of the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Ky.
He retired from active service as a major in 1997, and went on to serve in the Army Reserve until 2004.
Jeff was a member of Port City Community Church in Wilmington.
Family was paramount to Jeff, and he deeply loved and cared for all of his family.
Nothing was more special to Jeff than spending time on his boat and taking walks along the coast with his wife, sharing and reflecting on all the special times they had together.
The family will receive friends Saturday, June 16, 2018, from 11 a..m. to noon at Port City Community Church, followed by a service at noon in the sanctuary, with pastor Mike Ashcraft officiating.
A private family burial will be held at Wayne Memorial Park in Goldsboro.
In addition to his mother, Jeff is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia “Cindy” Bowers-Lee; children, Catherine, Andrew and Luke Lee; his aunt, Jane Ebert; and uncle, Bill of Sparta, N.C.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Lee.
