ROBERT GENE LANGLEY

April 7, 1940–May 10, 2018

Robert Gene Langley, of Princeton, left this world to be with Jesus Thursday evening at his home, while surrounded by his wife and daughter. Robert was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend whose love for life and others was apparent to all who met him.

Robert lived in Wayne County his entire life and he loved nothing more than be at home. He was a farmer and many of his happiest times were spent on one of his tractors at the family farm. Robert was known for his hard work and was honored in his calling as a farmer. He was also a true sportsman, most comfortable outdoors, on the water or in the woods. Robert could often be found fishing in his favorite spot, enjoying a tug on the line.

Bobbie tirelessly devoted herself as Robert’s daily caregiver for many years – he was her world and the love of her life. Robert and Bobbie loved their family and the time they spent with their children and grandsons.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 13, 2018, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service to celebrate Robert’s life at 7 p.m. in the chapel, with Pastor Glenn Mills and Chaplain Allen Strickland officiating. Interment will be on Monday, May 14, 2018, at 11 a.m. in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Robert is survived by his wife of 52 years, Bobbie Price Langley; daughter, Sherry Gray and husband, Dwight, of LaGrange; grandchildren, James Robert Rast, Jonathan Dwight Gray and Timothy Jacob Gray; mother, Georgia Lewis Langley; brother, Danny Ray Langley and wife, Donna; and sister, Panda Langley Crocker and husband, Sheryle. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert T. Langley; daughter, Joy Fields Rast; and grandchildren, Robert Langley Gray and Roland Dwight Gray.

Robert’s family would like to acknowledge the staff of Community Home Care and Hospice, particularly Sheree, Carol and Chaplain Allen, as well as the friends, caregivers, nurses, and physicians who had a profound impact on the quality of Robert’s life in recent years. They demonstrated what constitutes excellent medical care.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to Community Home Care and Hospice, 2309 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
