Dec. 4, 1945-April 16, 2018

Betty Spearman Best, 72, Goldsboro, passed away on Monday, April 16, 2018, at Wayne UNC Health Care.

Betty was born in Sampson County on Dec. 4, 1945, to the late Harold Lee Spearman and Sallie Helen Matthis Spearman. She was a member of Saulston United Methodist Church. Betty loved flowers and was a certified floral designer. She shared her husband's passion of traveling and enjoyed nature and the many breath-taking views we all take for granted. Betty loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her precious grandchildren. She was a very caring and giving person, putting others ahead of her own needs.

A service to celebrate Betty's life will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2018, at Saulston United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Clay Parker and the Rev. Debbie Matthis presiding. The family will greet friends Thursday following the service in the fellowship hall. A private interment for the family will be held in Willow Dale Cemetery.

Betty is survived by her husband of 53 years, Horace Best; daughters, Renee Bryan and husband, Jonathan, of Goldsboro and Shannon Best of Wilmington; and three grandchildren, Mackenzie, Cooper and Drew Bryan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Howard Spearman and Bobby Spearman.
