JERRY DALE RIDINGS

Jerry Dale Ridings, 80, Goldsboro, passed away suddenly Sunday, March 18, 2018, at Wayne UNC Hospital.

Jerry was born in McEwen, Tenn., Aug. 21, 1937, to the late Dewey and Cleva England Ridings.

He lived his dream proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force.

Jerry will always be remembered for his incredible intelligence, his wonderful sense of humor and his patriotism.

Following his military career, Jerry managed Century Uniform in Goldsboro for many years, where he developed many fond business acquaintances and friends in Wayne County.

Jerry lived a life of dedication to his family and friends and to his community.

He served his community many ways as a member of Adamsville Lions Club and as a Shriner.

For more than 50 years, Jerry was a member of the Shrine, Wayne Masonic Lodge No. 112 A.F. & A.M. and Eastern Star No. 54.

Jerry loved First Free Will Baptist Church, and was a dedicated and faithful servant.

He had a large extended circle of family and friends, and they were all very special to him. He will be missed, but greatly remembered.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 20, 2018, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service at 7:30 p.m. in the chapel, with the Rev. Gary Bailey officiating. Masonic rites will also be a part of the services at the funeral home. Interment will be Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at 10 a.m. in Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with full military honors.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sula Newton Ridings; sister, Lula Pullen of McEwen, Tenn.; nephew, Eric Pullen and wife Chrissie of McEwen, Tenn.; great-nieces, Erica Pullen and Megan Birt; and brother-in-law, Eugene Keen.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Kathryn Ann Denise.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to First Free Will Baptist Church, 600 E. Ash St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
