ROBERT LINDSAY RIZZO

Dec. 20, 1929-March 18, 2018

Robert Lindsay Rizzo, 88, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 18, 2018, at the North Carolina State Veterans Home in Kinston.

Bob was born Dec. 20, 1929, in Chicago, Ill., to the late John Rizzo and Corinne Barnes Rizzo.

Before moving to Goldsboro, N.C., Bob was a longtime resident of Plymouth and Norwood, Mass., where he was involved for many years with the Lions Club, The Builders Association of Greater Boston, The National Home Builders Association, The American Arbitration Association, The Cape Cod Ski Club and the American Red Cross.

Bob had many loves and interests. He loved a good meal and gardening, growing delicious tomatoes and peppers.

He owned and ran his development company, Barco Realty, in Massachusetts until his retirement, having built many quality homes, all with forward thinking designs.

Bob maintained lifelong friendships; he and Barbara had a lively social life hosting many parties.

He loved to ski, and was known as a "character" and a "jazzy" dresser.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Barbara Ruxton Rizzo, and son, Paul Rizzo.

Mr. Rizzo is survived by his children and their spouses, Charles and Elizabeth Rizzo and Patricia and Lee Perkins all of Goldsboro, N.C., Peter and Patrice Rizzo of Wolfeboro, N.H., and Nancy and Gerry Lyons of Barnstable, Mass.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Adam Rizzo, Luke Rizzo, Matthew Rizzo, Karli Rizzo, Sarah Rizzo Bateman, Peter Rizzo Jr., Kelley Thomas, Faith Thomas, and Eric Thomas; and great-grandchildren, Summer Rizzo, Collin Rizzo and Harland Bateman.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Red Cross or a charity of one's choice.

A celebration of lives well lived to honor Bob and Barbara will be held at a later date in Plymouth, Mass.

The family would like to express its gratitude for the profound respect, love and care Papa received from everyone at the North Carolina State Veterans Home in Kinston, N.C.
