Deborah Sue Weaver Chance, 65, Goldsboro, passed away suddenly Saturday, March 17, 2018, at New Hanover Regional Hospital while vacationing with her family in Wilmington.

Sue was born in Sampson County Dec. 14, 1952, to the late James Weaver Jr. and Gertie Parnell Weaver.

She was preceded in death Jan. 1, 2018, by her husband, John W. Chance Sr.

Sue was a graduate from Sampson Community College, where she received an associate degree in nursing.

Following graduation, Sue had worked as an LPN with Sampson Regional Hospital, Skill Creations and Wayne County Health Department.

She later went to work with the city of Goldsboro in the community affairs department until her retirement.

Sue lived a life of dedication to her family and friends and to her community.

She served her community many ways, including as president of the Goldsboro Jaycees and as a part of Leadership of Wayne County.

Sue had a strong faith in God, and was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.

She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Sue will always be loved by her children and grandchildren, and will be greatly missed by those who knew her.

A service to celebrate Sue's life will be held Saturday, March 24, 2018, at 10 a.m. in St. Paul United Methodist Church, with the Rev. James Harry and the Rev. Phyllis Vail officiating. Interment will be at 1 p.m. in Roseboro Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday, March 23, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at her home.

Sue is survived by her children, Corrie Deporter and husband, Brian, Susan Kate Chance and Will Chance; grandsons, J.J. Shandy and Joseph Shandy; sister, Christal Freeman; brother, Jimmy Weaver; and nephew, Travis Weaver.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 204 E. Chestnut St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
