CARL ALLEN BLACKBURN

Aug. 16, 1933-March 4, 2018

Carl Allen Blackburn, 84, Salisbury, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018, at Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House.

Mr. Blackburn was born Aug. 16, 1933, in Pender County, the son of the late James Edwin Blackburn and Sallie Williams Blackburn.

Carl graduated from Pikeville High School, and received his bachelor's degree from Pembroke College.

He worked for Rowan County Social Services as a case worker for 30 years until his retirement.

Carl was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

He enjoyed walking, sightseeing, traveling, woodworking, photography and computers.

Carl was preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond and Elbert Blackburn, and sisters, Ethel Blackburn Andrews and Rennie Fay Blackburn.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 53 years, Eunice Olivia Cox Blackburn, and nieces and nephews Linda Midkiff (Bob), Maria Brooks (Lenton), Thomas Andrews (Laurie), Herbert Andrews (Judy) and Pat Andrews (Sally).

Patrick, MySarah and Trey Andrews are among the numerous great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 9, at Summersett Funeral Home.

Service 2 p.m. Saturday, March 10, at Summersett Memorial Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Jeff Insley, with burial to follow at Rowan Memorial Park with military graveside rites.
