NATHAN JORDON CUMMINGS

Nathan Jordon Cummings, 92, Kinston, passed away Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018, at Magnolia Cottage Facility.

Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018, at Howard-Carter Funeral Home, with pastor Luis Miranda officiating.

Burial and visitation were held following the service at Pinelawn Memorial Park.

Nathan was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Cummings; parents, Marshall and Ida Cummings; and brothers, H.B., Stanley and Norwood Cummings.

Nathan was a veteran of the United States Navy.

He worked for Sears and Roebuck for many years as a service technician, and retired in 1980.

He was a founding father of Rivermont Free Will Baptist Church in Kinston, and served as a church deacon for many years.

Nathan loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a loving husband, "Daddy," "Granddaddy," "PaPa," brother and friend.

Survivors are his daughter, Patsy Newby and husband, Reggie; son, Haywood Cummings and wife, Mev; grandchildren, Kelly Rouse and husband, Franklin, Gregory Thompson and wife, Laurie, Corbett Cummings and wife, Amanda, Dan Smith and wife, Shanera, and Robyn Pullen and husband, Danny; great-grandchildren, Dylan Rouse, Austin Rouse, Montana Thompson and wife, Rachel, Maggie Thompson, Evan Cummings, Adley Cummings, Javen Smith, Leah Smith, Jordan Smith and wife, Kayle, Kaleb Lane, Paytyn Jones and Avenell Pullen; great-great-grandchildren, Tandon Ruffner, Rilynne Smith, Lilly Smith and Bryson Turbyfill; and one sister, Mable English.
