Esther Virginia Edmundson Davis, 91, Eureka, died peacefully March 8, 2018.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Eureka United Methodist Church in Eureka, N.C., with visitation following, with the Rev. Dr. Gerry Davis and the Rev. Jarrod Davis officiating. A private interment will be held in Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont.

Esther was born March 20, 1926, in Wayne County to the late Henry Green Edmundson and Mamie Elizabeth Lancaster Edmundson.

She was a longtime resident of the Eureka community, and was a member of Eureka United Methodist Church.

She was a nurse at Wayne Memorial Hospital for more than 23 years, and served her community in that capacity by making many home visits to families with newborns, and was a member of Fremont Rescue Squad.

Esther was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Bernice Gibson Davis.

She is survived by her sons, Jim Davis and wife, Nan, of Cary and the Rev. Dr. Gerry Davis and wife, Carolyn, of Willow Spring, and daughters, Peggy Moseley and husband, the Rev. Charles Moseley, of New Bern and Nora Finch and husband, Ed, of Wilson.

She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, Jon Davis and wife, Krista, of Harrisburg, N.C., Megan Davis Hodge and husband, Tim, of Waxhaw, Staton Davis and wife, Jillian, of Wallburg, Toni Mann of Lubbock, Texas, Joshua Davis and wife, Erin, of Clayton, Jarrod Davis and wife, Jessica, of Sanford, Chad Underhill and wife, Michaela, Amy Holding and husband, Greg, of Garner, Celia Moseley Franks and husband, Phil, of Honolulu, Hawaii, Anna Moseley Scarff and husband, Jonathan, of Chester, Va., Charles F. Moseley and wife, Michele ,of Greensboro, Leah Finch of Raleigh and Leslie Finch of Memphis, Tenn., and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by brothers, John Ed Edmundson and Buck Edmundson, and sisters, Lillian Davis, Nora Bogue, Fannie Hare and Henrietta "Henri" Sasser.
