Joseph Peten Sr., 85, of 500 Durham Lake Road, Dudley, died Thursday in the Willow Creek Nursing Home.
He was born April 12, 1932, in Wayne County, to Jesse Peten and Rebecca Bowden.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the James T. Haskins Memorial Chapel of the Haskins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Old Mill Cemetery.
He is survived by his children, Joseph Peten Jr., of Louisburg, N.C., Milton Peten, and Ruby Taylor, both of Goldsboro, N.C.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Haskins Funeral Home. At other times, the family will receive friends at the residence, where they will assemble in preparation for the funeral procession.
