Annie Cleo McMillan Gray passed away on Dec. 2, 2017, at the age of 95 surrounded by her family at Brookdale Senior Living.

She was the daughter of the late Ellen Frederick and Henry C. McMillan.

In her early years, she sang with the Melody Trio. She loved to sing and listen to gospel music. Cleo was a devout Christian and stayed strong in her faith.

Cleo lived most of her adult life in Texas, coming home frequently to visit family in Goldsboro. She moved back to Goldsboro in 2008 and married Robert John Furlin, who preceded her in death on Oct. 26, 2017.

She is survived by nieces, Mary Cunningham (Jim), Sylvia Caudle (Dave), Hilda Morran Pearsall and Rachel Moxley; and nephew, Julian McMillan (Carol). Also Cheryl and Jack Watson, great niece and nephew, that cared for her after her husband's stroke; and a special friend, Bobbie Watson. She is also survived by numerous other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters, including LoRayne Furlin of Goldsboro.

"Aunt Cleo" will always be remembered for her quick wittiness, fortitude and her love of flowers.

Services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 5, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with internment at Wayne Memorial Park following the service. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the chapel.

Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. of Goldsboro is serving the family.
