JOHN SEKULICH SR.

John Sekulich Sr., 88, Johnston County, passed away Oct. 28, 2017.

John was born Aug. 11, 1929, in Beach Park, Ill., to Kata Virklan Sekulich and Joseph Sekulich.

June 25, 1955, he married the love of his life, Sharon Rose Toland-Toepfer. They were married for 62 years.

He was preceded in death by three infants, Sheila, Daniel and David, as well as sisters, Anne, Joanna, Mary and Matilda, and a brother, Joseph.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon; as well as his children, Diana (Charles), John Jr., Bradley (Karen) and Michael (Kimberly;) beloved grandchildren, Jessica (Barry), Allie, Nick, Summer, Dasha and Malina; and one great-grandchild, Trey; as well as a brother, Steven.

He had many nieces and nephews whom he thought of often with fond regards.

John served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954.

His last days were spent at the Veterans Home in Kinston, N.C. We are grateful for the kind and loving care.

In 1946, at the age of 16, John bought his first Harley-Davidson. Harleys became both a vocation and an avocation for the rest of his life.

In 1958, he and Sharon opened West Allis Harley Davidson, eventually moving to New Berlin, Wis.

After they sold it in 1978, he worked for Harley-Davidson Motor Co. as a SE technical rep, then as the service manager for the Wilmington, and then Goldsboro, Harley shops until he retired at 80.

There will be a memorial service for family and close friends Saturday, Nov. 4, at 1 p.m. at Casey Funeral Home in Princeton, N.C.
