DELTON C. GRADY

May 4, 1943-Oct. 8, 2017

Delton Chancey Grady, 74, Mount Olive, left this world to be with Jesus early Sunday morning while surrounded by his family.

Del was a beloved husband, father, granddaddy and friend, whose love for life and others was apparent to all who met him.

Del was born in Wayne County May 4, 1943, to the late William Harvey Grady and Estelle Hollamon Grady.

He married the love of his life, Ann Price, and they were inseparable as you could often find them together doing their daily tasks of life and enjoying their time together.

Most important to Del was his family. Del worked so hard to make sure his wife and daughters were well taken care of.

He owned and operated Sandhill Motors in Goldsboro for many years before his retirement in January.

For those who knew him, Del will be remembered by his good nature, warmth and his smile. He will be missed by many.

The loves in Del's life were God, family and friends.

Even during his battle with cancer, he never gave up or let go of his firm belief in the power of prayer. Del's determination to let it be God's will was an inspiration to all who knew him.

He was a member of Rhodes Friends Meeting.

Though Del accomplished so much and blessed so many people in countless ways, he would probably say his greatest accomplishment surely would be his two daughters, Angie and Lisa. They would tell you that having such a loving, kind, compassionate, strong, yet gentle father, was one of the greatest blessings of their lives.

A service to celebrate Del's life will be held Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017, at 2 p.m. in the sanctuary of Rhodes Friends Meeting, with the Rev. Carroll Overman and the Rev. Jeff Dail officiating. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his home in Grantham.

Del is survived by his wife of 55 years, Elizabeth Ann Grady; daughters, Angie Gardner and husband, Chuck, of Mount Olive and Lisa Lewis and husband, Shelton, of Mount Olive; grandchildren, Haley Wiggins and husband, Brady, Chase Gardner, Justin Lewis and Garrett Lewis and wife, Kaylin; brother, Harold Grady and wife, Kay, of Fayetteville; sister-in-law, Evelyn Grady of Mount Olive; and several nieces, nephews and several very special lifelong friends he loved very much.

In addition to his parents, Del was preceded in death by his brother, Earl Grady.

Although Del leaves a vacant place in our hearts, we know he truly earned his special place in heaven. Del will always be remembered as a loyal man of faith, love and respect to all who knew him. The best of Del will live on in each of us.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be given to Cures for the Colors, SMOC, 203 Cox Blvd., Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
