HELEN E. BRITT

Jan. 10, 1929-Oct. 8, 2017

Helen Evans Little Britt, 88, resident of Faison, was welcomed into heaven Sunday evening, Oct. 8. God's angels came for her at Genesis Care Center in Mount Olive, where she had received care for the last few years.

Born in Brunswick County, she had been a Faison resident for more than 63 years.

Before her retirement, she had been in the employ of the Harold Precythe family at Southern Produce, where she was bookkeeper and office manager with a long tenure of faithful service.

She had served the town of Faison as town commissioner and as mayor pro-tempore.

Mrs. Britt was a longtime member of Faison Baptist Church, where she had been a Sunday school teacher, active in the Women's Missionary Union, had served on various committees through the years and had been on the diaconate board.

Mrs. Britt is survived by her daughter, Ladeane Little of Faison; Ladeane's special friend, Leonard Cherry of Faison; a sister-in-law, Jimmie Evans of Wilmington, N.C.; and several cousins.

Mrs. Britt and Ladeane had been "adopted" by the families of two wonderful roommates of Mrs. Britt at Genesis, who claimed them as their own, the Christine Kennedy family and Zelda "Teeny" Cox and family all of Mount Olive.

Loved ones preceding Mrs. Britt in death were her two husbands, Clemon Little, Ladeane's father, and Roland M. "Bob" Britt; her parents, Weston and Irene R. Evans; and a brother, Maxwell Evans.

A service to celebrate Mrs. Helen Britt and the goodness of her life will be Wednesday, Oct. 11, Faison Baptist Church at 3 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Andy Beard, the Rev. Paul Rose and the Rev. Shelton Justice. Burial will take place following the service in Faison Cemetery.

Visitation will be before the service at the church beginning at 1:30 p.m.

Flowers are welcome and any memorial gifts are asked to be presented to Faison Baptist Church, P.O. Box 280, Faison, N.C., 28341.

A Tyndall service, Mount Olive.
