Michael Dean "Mr. Big Fry" Harrell, 57, died Tuesday at UNC Rex Hospital.
Born in Wayne County, he was the son of the late Ernest Asa Harrell and Ruth Ferrell Harrell, and brother of the late Bill Harrell and Lois Kennedy.
Mike was the owner and operator of Harrell's Machine Shop and Racing Engines.
A service to celebrate Mike's life will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
Family members will greet friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and at other times, at the home.
Mike is survived by his wife, Mary Harrell; two daughters, Emily Morgan Lyda and Erin Michele Lyda; a brother, Ray Harrell; and his granddaughter, Brianna Gray Lewis.
