ELLA MAE EVANS WYNN

ELLA MAE EVANS WYNN

June 22, 1949-Sept. 30, 2017

Ella Mae Evans Wynn was born fifth of 10 children June 22, 1949, to Sam and Mary Evans in Wayne County, N.C. She transitioned from labor to reward Sept. 30, 2017.

Ella attended Wayne County public schools. She graduated from NorWayne High School in 1967.

Ella worked for Sylvania and Heavy Duty Electric for many years. She then transitioned to AP Parts for almost 20 years.

Ella was also a licensed notary for the State of North Carolina.

Ella found her true calling as a CNA in 2004, where she took care of the elderly until she was unable to work.

Ella was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Cleveland Lewis, Roberta Hamilton, Howard Evans, Leroy Evans, Betty Jean Middleton and Belinda Gail Jones.

Ella's Christian experience began as a child, and continued throughout her life. Because of her love relationship with the Lord Jesus, she had a confident trust that he would faithfully respond to every prayer she entrusted to him. And he did.

Ella operated in the "spirit of helps" as an usher in her youth at Elm Grove Church and then as an adult at Deeper Life Church Ministries.

After her husband gave his life to the Lord, they both became members at St. Mark Church Disciples of Christ.

Everywhere Ella went, she compassionately connected with people. To know her was to love her. One of the sweetest women you will ever meet.

Ella leaves to cherish her memories her husband, James Woodard Wynn; one daughter, Taishon Wynn Hooks; two sons, James Anthony Wynn and Brian Christopher Wynn; 12 grandchildren, Anthony Gernado Hooks Jr., Tyree Hooks, Quinesha Selvey, Jamesya Wynn, DeAndre Slacker, Tijianna Benton, Jaylen Wynn, Asheena Dyson, Kalisa Wynn, Ayden Artis, Elianna Wynn and Josiah Wynn; one sister, Eva Mae Middleton (Jerry); two brothers, Tony Evans (Linda) and Charles Evans (Lois); three brothers-in-law, Edmond Hamilton, Stanley Jones and Corinthian Middleton; three sisters-in-law, Gertrude Evans, Carolyn Lewis and Lynette Evans; and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.

We would also like to give a special vote of thanks to Linda Evans, sister-in-law, and Sheree Justus from Community Home Care and Hospice.

The celebration of her life will be held Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Church of Christ Disciples of Christ, 700 W. Ash St., Goldsboro, N.C., with Bishop Alton A. Smith officiating. She will be laid to rest at Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, 164 Longs Plant Farm Road, Goldsboro, N.C.

There will be a viewing held Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017, from 3 to 7 p.m., with the family arriving to receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home and Cremations, 1701 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the American Cancer Society in memory of Mrs. Ella Mae Wynn.

Services of compassionate and distinguished class entrusted to J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home of Goldsboro.
